Parafraseando a Miguel Delibes, los brazos de Microsoft son alargados, o al menos eso nos quieren hacer pensar. Se dice, se rumorea, se comenta que los de Redmond están preparando el “iPhone killer”, los mismos que hicieron el “iPod killer” Zune, con mayor o menor fracaso éxito, previsto para el mercado navideño de 2007.
Aunque el rumor es muy débil la idea no creo que disguste a Bill, sobre todo teniendo en cuenta que Apple está abriendo nuevos nichos de mercado donde sólo con la expectación alcanzada puede dar por éxito rotundo al iPhone.
¿Os imagináis un “Zune Phone”? Sólo la pronunciación en inglés me hace sonreír (siunfon… suena coreano, ¿no?).

De las declaraciones de Bill Gates en una entrevista en Newsweek con motivo del lanzamiento de Vista, se puede deducir que no habrá ZunePhone, o como sea que se llame. Os dejo la pregunta a Bill Gates y su respuesta:

With Xbox and Zune, Microsoft has adopted an end-to-end approach, where you write the software, design the hardware and run the services. Will Microsoft now change its mobile-phone strategy and adopt an end-to-end approach, the way Apple has with the iPhone?
Bill Gates:
No, I don’t think so. People like different styling, media storage, capability [in phones]. The benefit we get from having lots of great hardware partners is pretty phenomenal. And our software can run on any one of those things.
